Eli's litigation practice focuses on complex commercial litigation representing Plaintiffs against Financial Institutions or Banks; and on financial or consumer Class Action litigation including Overtime Pay Employment Law Class Actions.

Eli has also appeared before the Commercial List representing creditors on CCAA applications.

Notable Representations

  • Represented the Plaintiffs in Corless v KPMG, an Overtime Pay Employment Class Action that successfully culminated in the Plaintiffs receiving Retroactive Overtime Pay for 6 prior years.
  • Represented over 1800 Consumer Noteholders in Metcalfe and Mansfield v The Investors Represented on the Pan Canadian Investors Committee in the Reorganization of the frozen $32 Billion Canadian Asset Backed Commercial Paper (ABCP) Market under the CCAA. The representation successfully culminated in most consumer noteholders receiving full payment of their frozen notes.
  • Represented The Steering Committee for Terminated Canadian Nortel Employees in Nortel's CCAA application.

Education

Eli attended York University, earned his LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School and is licensed to practice law in Ontario. Eli joined the firm in 2004.

Eli is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association and is active in community affairs.
